2 countries will not participate at the European Youth Summer Olympic Festival to be held on July 21-28, said the Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov, ONA reports.

He stated that the national teams of Armenia and Liechtenstein will not participate at Baku – 2019 due to some unknown reasons.

As a result, only 48 countries will compete, instead of 50 at the festival to be held in Azerbaijan. According to the Minister, Armenia did not apply to competition and Liechtenstein withdrew their candidacy at the last minute: “We do not exactly know the situation around Liechtenstein. They will not participate due to some reasons. It will be defined after the meeting of delegations of the European Youth Summer Olympic Festival and European Olympic Committees. As for Armenia’s case, there was a deadline regarding the participation at the festival. Neither the European Olympic Committee nor we have put pressure on Armenia regarding their participation. The members of the European Olympic Committees voluntarily participate at the event”.
