Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that Moscow will be watching closely how Ukraine's request for joining NATO in an expedited process will unfold, APA reports citing Teletrader.

The Russian official underlined that Kiev's wish to join NATO was one of the reasons for Moscow's special military operation in Ukraine.

Peskov pointed out that the western military alliance members had a mixed response to Ukraine's request, with some supporting the accelerated accession, and others opposing it.
