"Men who illegally crossed the border and left Ukraine during the war will face punishment," Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko announced, APA reports citing RBC-Ukraine.

"Ukraine is preparing a bill to regulate this issue: the parliament and the government plan to implement this initiative together," he added.

The minister explained that Ukrainian legislation currently does not provide for punishment for those who illegally crossed the border during martial law.

"I think that at the end of the war, the state will do everything to remind every citizen of what they did during the war. I mean those who crossed the border illegally," Klymenko said.

He also added that such innovations would be jointly developed by the Cabinet of Ministers and members of the Verkhovna Rada.

"I think it will become a law," Klymenko said.

The minister explained that they are studying international experience and what international sanctions are applied worldwide for such violations. In addition, Klymenko suggested that the punishment for those who illegally traveled abroad during the war could be restrictions on the movement of such citizens abroad.

"They have to answer for breaking the law. I think every citizen wants this, and the state will understand if there are any restrictions on the further movement of these citizens, at least abroad," the minister said.
