Weapons warehouse exploded in Crimea, casualties reported-UPDATED

Two people were injured during a series of explosions in the north of the Crimean peninsula under the control of Russia, said he head of Crimea Sergey Akseno, APA reports citing TASS.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said fire and subsequent explosions occurred in the area where ammunition was temporarily stored in one of the military units in Mayskoe village, Crimea. Measures are underway to extinguish the fire.

The nearby village of Mayskoe was evacuated because of the explosion in the ammunition warehouse.

"The explosions occurred in the former farm, where the military is temporarily displaced. The ammunition was detonated," a local source told reporters.
