2007 Draft State Budget to be discussed at Parliament

2007 Draft State Budget was discussed at the meeting of Parliament standing commissions for science and education, international and interparliamentary relations, regional issues, law policy and state-building.
Science and education standing commission chair Shamzaddin Hajiyev said the Draft is very expedient. Finance Ministry officer Khagani Rzayev stated science spending will be AZN 39.6m, AZN 15m up from this year’s.
Azerbaijan National Academy of Science’s fundamental researches will spend some AZN 27m, which makes up 68% of the total science spending.
The Draft Budget envisages AZN 776m for education, 47% up this year’s.
The Draft envisages AZN 7m for provision of compulsory school students with books free, AZN8.5m for construction, repair and equipment of schools, AZN 13m for provision of ICT of schools, AZN1.8m for supporting talented children, AZN 1m for incitement of teachers to rural schools, AZN2.7m for supporting poor children’s education, AZN1.1 for students to study in Turkey, Ukraine and Russia, AZN6.2m for heating to schools in winter.
Finance Ministry officer Shakir Guliyev said AZN249m will be spent for the Government bodies (except law enforcement bodies) and AZN 53.5m for increase of the salary of state servants.
“Besides salary, the spending for maintenance of government bodies will be 15.9% year-over-year. Maintenance of the state bodies will constitute 1.15 percent of the GDP (4.35% of the budget expenditures)�.
AZN 37.5m will be spent for the maintenance of the diplomatic offices and consulates, AZN 2.8m up from this year, of which AZN7.5 will be used for opening new diplomatic corps (embassies in Sweden, the Netherlands, Czechia, South Korea, Syria, Qatar, Malaysia, Croatia, Consulate general in Yekaterinburg). /APA/
