“It is planned to expand the scope of the "Preferential Trade Agreement" between Azerbaijan and Turkey,” Riza Tuna Turagay, Deputy Minister of Trade of the Republic of Turkey, Head of the Customs Department told APA-Economics.

According to him, the goal is to increase the trade turnover between the two countries to USD 15 bln: “Currently, our trade turnover is around USD 5 bln. We had import amounted to USD 2,3 bln. , and export amounted to USD 2,7 bln in 2021. We are trying to increase that trade volume.”

The Turkish deputy minister noted that currently, one of the main issues is the opening of the Zangazur corridor in order to expand trade relations: “The opening of this corridor will create an advantage for us in terms of gaining access to Azerbaijan, and from there to Central Asian countries, and increasing the volume of trade. At the moment, negotiations with Russia on this issue are ongoing at the highest level. We expect the corridor will open as soon as possible,” said the Turkish Deputy Minister.
