“We continue our efforts in the area of the presentation of the Khojaly tragedy to the international community and its recognition as an act of genocide”, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev said in a statement, APA reports.
He noted that the main purpose is to achieve recognition of Khojaly tragedy as the genocide at the level of the international courts: "The Azerbaijani people are marking the 28th anniversary of Khojaly tragedy. Khojaly tragedy is a painful wound of our people. The Azerbaijani people keep in their mind the memory of Khojaly victims and commemorate them with great esteem.
Today, we continue our efforts in the area of the presentation of the Khojaly tragedy to the international community and its recognition as an act of genocide. It is very gratifying that at the level of the parliaments of over 10 countries and the local legislative bodies of a number of countries Khojaly tragedy has been recognized as a crime against humanity and the act of genocide. Our main purpose is to achieve recognition of Khojaly tragedy as a genocide at the level of the international courts, and in the course of this process, the campaigns for raising the public awareness, the Justice to Khojaly campaign, the activity of our civil society organizations, the activity of our diplomatic representations and our Diaspora organizations bear very important character”.
