Ilham Aliyev: "If Armenia draws the right conclusions from the war and gives up its baseless claims, it can also have a place on cooperation platforms"

"Today, the Turkish-Azerbaijani union is of great importance not only for our peoples, but also for the region and the world. Because our policy is aimed at cooperation, collaboration between countries," said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at a press conference after the signing ceremony of documents between Turkey and Azerbaijan today, APA reports.

President Ilham Aliyev said that we are fully prepared for the period after this historic victory: "Today, during a conversation with my dear brother, we also exchanged views on the future, and our views coincide. We must create a new platform for cooperation in the region. Preliminary statements have already been made. It can be a versatile platform. All the countries of the region participating in this format of cooperation can only benefit from it. There is a traditional Turkey-Azerbaijan-Georgia, Azerbaijan-Russia-Iran, Turkey-Russia-Iran cooperation. We can summarize all these cooperation platforms and present them as a single platform. If the Armenian leadership draws the right conclusions from the war and gives up its claims, baseless claims and looks to the future, then they can have a place on this platform. We are open to that. Azerbaijan's position and statements after the war give grounds to say so. We must close this page, we must put an end to the enmity. We were not the initiators of this. For 30 years, we have been waiting for support from international organizations and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. We were waiting for the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions adopted by them. But this did not happen. Simply, neither war, nor peace, nor the status quo continued. We have changed this status quo by military means, removed the enemy from our lands, dealt them a heavy blow, destroyed their army, destroyed their main ideological pillars. But what did we do after that? We said that we are ready to cooperate. By creating a new format of cooperation, we can reduce the risk of war in our region to zero in the future.
