# 28 June 2018 15:17 (UTC +04:00)

At a meeting held today, the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has appointed Roger Gale as co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan, an APA correspondent reported from Strasbourg.

He is also the chairman of the Monitoring Committee.

The other co-rapporteur is Austrian MP Stefan Schennach.

It is worth noting that the previous co-rapporteur, Romanian parliamentarian Cezar Florin Preda has faced sanctions from the PACE Committee on Rules of Procedure, Immunities and Institutional Affairs in May of this year.

He is accused of corruption.

For this reason, Preda has been dismissed from the post of co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan.

The sanction will remain in force for 2 years.
