Relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are on the rise, the newly-appointed Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mikhail Bocharnikov, exclusively told APA’s correspondent in Moscow.

Bocharnikov announced that preparations are underway for Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Russia.

“Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will soon make a visit to Russia. Therefore, topical issues of relations between the two countries should be focused on, and parties should be prepared to sign relevant documents. The process is underway. Despite the summer period, we are working hard,” the ambassador said.

Bocharnikov then spoke about his activities in Azerbaijan as a diplomat.

“I’ve been working as Russia’s ambassador to Azerbaijan for a month. I think that relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are on the rise. As we are at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry today, I’d like to touch upon the growing economic ties between the two countries. There are a lot of issues on the agenda of bilateral relations. Meetings of both businessmen and delegations of economy ministries of both countries are very important,” he said.

The envoy also hailed the development of political relations between Russia and Azerbaijan.

“Everything relies on friendly and personal relations between our heads of state. Therefore, I’m optimistic about the future of relations between the two countries,” Bocharnikov added.
