Turkmen, Ukrainian leaders congratulate Azerbaijani president

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has sent a congratulatory letter to President Ilham Aliyev.

“On behalf of the people and government of Turkmenistan and on my own behalf, I extend my sincerest congratulations to you and all the Azerbaijani people on the occasion of your country’s national holiday – Republic Day,” Berdimuhamedov said in the congratulatory letter.

Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan values relations with Azerbaijan based the principles of equality, mutual benefit, respect and trust.

“I am convinced that the high level of cooperation and mutual understanding between our countries will become a solid foundation for the further development and strengthening of Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan bilateral ties for the benefit of our peoples,” the Turkmen leader said. “Taking this pleasant opportunity, I wish you robust health, happiness and prosperity, and the brotherly people of Azerbaijan peace, progress and tranquility.”

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko also congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s national holiday.

“On behalf of the people of Ukraine and on my own behalf, I sincerely congratulate you on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic,” Poroshenko said in his congratulatory letter.

Exactly a hundred years ago, the Azerbaijani people for the first time in the Muslim East chose a model of democratic development, noted the Ukrainian leader.

In his letter, Poroshenko reiterated that Ukraine’s position on the issue of restoring Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty within internationally recognized borders remains unchanged. The president also praised Azerbaijan’s unchanged position on the issue of supporting Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

Taking this opportunity, Poroshenko invited the Azerbaijani president to visit Ukraine again.
