"The famous British newspaper Financial Times has recently published an important article regarding Britain's post-Brexit foreign policy priorities of the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development. According to people close to the minister, the new minister has identified economic cooperation as a priority and even intends to increase the economic role of the British Foreign Office. That article citing people close to the minister reads that the new minister has defined the establishment of economic cooperation as a priority and even intends to increase the economic role of the British Foreign Office led by him," Newly appointed Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Elin Suleymanov said in an interview to APA's London bureau while answering the question "Can geopolitical and geo-economic interests of Great Britain in relation to the South Caucasus direct official London to support the opening of the Zangazur Corridor? Does the Zangazur Corridor have importance for Great Britain, if does, how can it be characterized?".

"Now let’s look through what issues Azerbaijan prioritizes in the new security situation in the South Caucasus: The opening of the communications, the establishment of economic infrastructure, restoration and construction, and of course, the opening of the Zangazur corridor that promises great opportunities for regional cooperation. Thus, supporting a project with unique economic potential, such as the Zangazur Corridor, can only benefit Britain, who, according to the new foreign policy concept, attaches exceptional importance to economic cooperation, promotes lasting peace, and has good bilateral relations with countries in the region, especially with Azerbaijan. As a rule, our initiatives usually benefit not only Azerbaijan but all partners. For example, at a time of gas crisis in Europe today, it is clear how far-sighted initiative the Southern Gas Corridor is. The Zangazur Corridor is an unprecedented opportunity to promote West-East-North-South cooperation at the international level. I hope that the Armenian leadership will soon realize the opportunities that the project will open, first of all, for Armenia, too," said Mr. Suleymanov.
