"People living in Iran want more contact and relations with other peoples in the region. The liberation process is emerging in Iran," said Brenda Shaffer, an American researcher who visited Agali village and Khudafarin bridge in Zangila today, APA reports.

She noted that anti-regime activities and demonstrations in Iran are an exceptional case: "I haven't seen anything like this since Iran's Islamic Revolution, it's amazing. This is exceptional because people don't just want a change of policy, a change of candidate, or a change of election, people want a complete change of the entire system of government. I wonder what is happening literally just a few kilometers away from where we are standing? Protests do not take place only in the capital or big cities, people protest in the most remote areas and villages. I think it's also about how people, different groups, have freedom. In Iran, ethnic groups are not even allowed to go to school in their own language. Which is a fundamental right. However, this is not possible in Iran, millions are not guaranteed the right to study in their mother tongue. Now is a very dramatic time. I think that Iran is just a framework, and within it, there are different ethnic identities and peoples. As you know, one of the largest elements of Iran's population is Azerbaijanis. I think that the Azerbaijanis there were watching the war in 2020, they saw Iran's support for Armenia. Perhaps all this moved them, they were proud of Azerbaijan's victory in this war, and it affected their identity, their awakening. Currently, this is a part of anti-regime activities and demonstrations in Iran."
