“After Baku, this time, these games are being held in Konya, in the fraternal country. I am sure that you feel at home here,” President Ilham Aliyev said at a meeting with athletes representing Azerbaijan at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Konya, Turkiye, on August 9, APA reports.
“Certainly, holding these games in Turkiye creates additional opportunities for us. Of course, we are very glad that these games are being held in Turkiye. I am sure that these games will be remembered both as a sports holiday and the holiday of Islamic solidarity. Our team showed very good results at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku, five years ago. It was the first in the team account. At the same time the games in Baku gave an impetus to strengthening Islamic solidarity,” noted the President.
