Former Vice President Joe Biden won Alaska's Democratic primary with 55.3 percent of the vote, against Senator Bernie Sanders' 44.7 percent, who dropped out of the race earlier in the week, APA reports.
The contest has been by mail-in voting only and was rescheduled from the original date of 4 April due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. The Alaska Democratic Party received about 19,000 mail-in ballots, twice the number of voters who participated in 2016 caucuses across Alaska.
Results from the Alaska Democratic primary were shared via Twitter by Alaska Democrats.
The Alaska Democratic party said in a letter that they are "proud to have carried out this volunteer-led effort safely and effectively during this challenging time".
