On the morning of January 1, 2021, a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan Babayev Zabil Gabil oglu (born in 1981) was blown up by an anti-personnel mine in the liberated from the occupation of the Fizuli region, as a result he was seriously injured, both legs were amputated, the General Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Agency for the clearance of mines from the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) said in a joint release, APA reports.

The prosecutor's office and police officers examined the scene of the incident, a forensic medical examination was appointed, and other procedural actions were carried out.

The Fizuli District Prosecutor's Office is investigating the fact.

Despite repeated warnings from government agencies, citizens, bypassing posts, penetrate the territories liberated from occupation and, as a result, expose themselves to the risk of being blown up by mines and unexploded ordnance. It should be especially noted that at present, activities are being carried out in these territories to clear mines and unexploded ordnance.

The Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and ANAMA once again ask the population not to travel to the territories liberated from the occupation without special permission until they are completely cleared of mines and other ammunition.
