"We don’t consider as correct the posing of the question about influence of the pandemic on the air quality. We have always called on people to reduce waste gases discharged into atmosphere be it the waste gases discharged by transport or industrial enterprises or by the public catering facilities not using up-to-date cleaning devices", said Umayra Taghiyeva, director of the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources while answering the question “Has the pandemic influenced the quality of the atmospheric air?”, APA reports.

She said the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources conducts intensive promotion works in this area: "Everybody remembers well the campaign held on the initiative of Leyla khanoom Aliyeva and under the motto of “Sunday without vehicle”. Some pessimists approached with suspicion the efficiency of cleaning of air by this method. But as you sea, today, as a result of decrease of number of vehicles, the air quality in the capital city has noticeably improved. Such results have also recorded in other countries. This once again proves such a simple idea that the reduction of the contaminating wastes emitted into atmosphere results in cleaning of air".
