On May 21, a meeting of the Health Ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement member and observer countries was held under the chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan in a video conference format, APA reports citing the Ministry of Health.

Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), noted Azerbaijan's significant contribution to implementing WHO international initiatives and wished success to the international conference.

Teymur Musayev noted that at the beginning of 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic raged around the world, Azerbaijan took a responsible approach to the chairmanship of the Movement. He said that Azerbaijan made several initiatives to mobilize global efforts to combat the pandemic: At the suggestion of President Ilham Aliyev, in December 2020, the UN General Assembly held a special session on the fight against coronavirus at the level of heads of state and government. Azerbaijan has also provided $ 10 million in voluntary financial assistance to the World Health Organization, half of which directly assisted Non-Aligned Movement members. Besides, humanitarian and financial assistance was provided to more than 30 countries, including members of the Non-Aligned Movement, to support the fight against coronavirus. Azerbaijan has donated 150,000 doses of vaccine to four countries free of charge."
