"As Omicron strain is a variant of COVID-19, traditional PCR nasal-throat swabs detect the virus. But detected coronavirus's being Omicron strain is determined with a more complex and expensive sequencing method," said specialist-expert of Ministry of Health Tayyar Eyvazov, APA reports.
T. Eyvazov has clarified specific symptoms of Omicron strain: "New strain does not have specific symptoms. The disease mostly reminds of other respiratory virus infections (usually low-grade fever, general weakness. tiredness, headache, muscle aches, scratchy throat or sore throat, dry cough, runny or stuffy nose, sometimes, gastrointestinal symptoms - nausea, vomiting, etc). Loss of taste and smell is rarely observed. Distinguishment of Omicron and Delta patients now is almost impossible in clinical terms."
