Azerbaijan-based banks see decline in external borrowing

As of April 1, 2018, total foreign liabilities of Azerbaijan-based commercial banks stood at AZN 1,892,300,000, down AZN 5,418,600,000 or 3.86-fold from previous year.

Central Bank of Azerbaijan said compared to February 2018, the external borrowing decreased AZN 360.6 million or 16% in March 2018.

As of April 1, 2018, banks’ total foreign assets stood at AZN 5,871,800,000, down AZN 2,712,800,000 or 85.88% in comparison to a year earlier. Compared to previous month, total foreign assets declined by AZN 600,500,000 or 9.28% in March.
