Chair of Milli Majlis meets President of Moldovan Parliament

Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova who is in the Greek capital of Athens on a working trip now met with President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Igor Grosu, Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.

At their meeting, Sahiba Gafarova talked about the establishment of the Azerbaijani-Moldovan diplomatic relations and of the bilateral inter-governmental commission, of the progress of the political and economic bonds and of the importance of reciprocal visits of the state leaders and governmental officials, discussions held and documents signed for the deepening of the relations between our states and nations.

The interaction between the Milli Majlis and the legislature of Moldova and its growth prospects, the work done by the Azerbaijani parliament’s working group for inter-parliamentary connexions with Moldova and the Moldovan legislative assembly’s group of inter-parliamentary friendship with Azerbaijan were referred to as well.

Besides, Sahiba Gafarova told Igor Grosu of the approaching first anniversary of Azerbaijan’s remarkable victory in the 44 days’ Patriotic War and of the new realia settled in the region after the signing of the Trilateral Statement of 10 November 2020. Mr Grosu was informed that, a year back, Azerbaijan had solely independently ended the three-decades-long Armenian occupation, made its national territory whole again and, at the same time, independently enforced the four resolutions of the UN Security Council that had remained but on paper for long years. In addition, Mr Grosu was put in the picture of the restoration work under way in the freed lands. That conflict is only a historical episode now, Mrs Gafarova remarked before stressing that our country was now interested in maintaining lasting peace and stability in the region and, indeed, was taking steps to that end. As regards Armenia, well, Armenia continues making provocations and is refusing to divulge the minefield maps.

President of the Moldovan Parliament Igor Grosu witnessed the interest of his country in furthering multi-faceted relations with Azerbaijan and underlined the need to broaden the bi-partite inter-parliamentary co-operation and to make reciprocal visits more frequent. Also, Mr Grosu told Mrs Gafarova about the Azerbaijanis who living in his country being involved in the public and political life of the country with much energy.

Other topics of shared interest were discussed during the conversation as well.
