Russia calls on Azerbaijan and Armenia to start negotiations soon regarding delimitation of the borders

“Russia has called on Baku and Yerevan many times to refrain from using force and to use political-diplomatic means in order to reduce tensions without exception”, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova at the briefing held today, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.

M. Zakharova noted that Russia calls on starting negotiations soon between Azerbaijan and Armenia on delimitation and demarcation of borders.

She noted that Russia is ready to give the necessary counseling assistance in this issue: “We consider as before that long-term solution of the problem in the border is to start negotiations process on the delimitation and demarcation of borders. We are ready to give the important counseling assistance to this process”.

The MFA official touching upon the recent meeting of the trilateral working group with the participation of Deputy Prime Ministers in Moscow said that the parties have achieved to return to a practical discussion of the approach to the opening of transport and economic ties in the South Caucasus: “Group has restored its activity. On August 17, a meeting of the trilateral working group was held in Moscow. We note this with pleasure that the parties have achieved to return to a practical discussion of approaches to opening economic and transport ties in the South Caucasus region”.
