“The processes underway, hostages are exchanged. This is normal. But Armenia has committed a crime and broke all existing laws regarding Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev. Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev should be immediately and unconditionally released,” Samad Seyidov, Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), told APA.

According to him, Azerbaijani delegation held an event dedicated to the issue of Azerbaijani civilians taken hostage by Armenia within the PACE summer session.

He emphasized that immediately releasing of D. Asgarov and Sh. Guliyev, ensuring their return to Azerbaijan has been demanded in front of the European Council and the international community. "Members of NGOs from Azerbaijan, officials, one of the child of hostages attended the event. They revealed the truths that Armenians wanted to conceal for a long time. I believe that this is a very important issue in human rights protection. This should be regarded as an issue that exposes Armenia's policy, from this point of view, holding such an event in the Council of Europe and bringing it to the attention of the European community. The main point is that Armenia's attempts to conceal Azerbaijani truth from world futile."

According to him, Shahbaz Guliyev and Dilgam Asgarov have illegally been jailed and a fake “court verdict” has been passed on them.

Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE stated that Russia has also been applied in the event: “As you know, one of the hostages- Dilgam Asgarov is a Russian citizen, Russia has recently returned to Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and they are supposed to take this issue into consideration. All of these shows that Azerbaijan defends not only own citizens, but also all Azerbaijanis in the world."
