Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Co-Chair of the State Commission for Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran Shahin Mustafayev, who is on a visit to Iran, met with Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rustam Gasimi, APA's Tehran bureau reports.

Sh. Mustafayev said there was a great potential for cooperation between the two countries.
The Prime Minister said that the next meeting of the State Commission for Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran will be held in Azerbaijan. We can also cooperate in the production of auto parts, agriculture and agricultural equipment."

Mr. Mustafayev noted that the trade turnover between the two countries has increased by 22 percent over the past nine months. "Currently, a document is being prepared for cooperation between the two countries in the field of preferential trade. 100 Iranian companies are registered in Azerbaijan. "The pandemic has damaged trade relations between all countries, but the pandemic has not affected trade relations between Iran and Azerbaijan. We have continued our transit relations during this period."
Speaking about the need to develop infrastructure between the two countries, Mustafayev said the North-South Transport Corridor project is a very important project: “We are currently working on this project. We also held talks today on cooperation in the oil and gas sector, and the working group continues its discussions. We will see good work in the near future. "
Mustafayev said that electricity is currently transported from Azerbaijan to Iran, adding that Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia have excellent relations in the fields of power lines, Khudafar project, customs, border and agriculture, education and culture.
During the meeting, Gasimi called the two countries friendly and brotherly. "These discussions will further develop our relations and eliminate barriers between the two countries. The construction of a road bridge on the Astara-Astara border, as well as the completion of the Rasht-Astara railway are important projects for both countries. We discussed both projects." , we will get a positive result."

Noting that Azerbaijani investors are investing in the Astara terminal, Gasimi said the two sides agreed to hold a meeting in Astara (Iran) and hold talks in this regard. A meeting will be held in Astara (Azerbaijan) before the meeting of the commission. The Nakhchivan-Mashhad passenger train, as well as transport and transit issues will be discussed at these meetings.
Noting that Iran intends to increase freight traffic with Azerbaijan, Gasimi said that issues such as the agreement on the Persian Gulf - Black Sea Corridor and car production in Azerbaijan will be discussed. With joint production, Iran can export its products from Azerbaijan to other countries.
