“We have arrived here and see what happened in Azerbaijani territories really,” said French lawyer Yassine Yakouti, who is on a visit to Aghdam, APA reports.
Yassine Yakouti said that they saw subjection of historical monuments to vandalism with their eyes: “Fortunately, Azerbaijan returned territories, which belong it within the framework of the international law. We are attorneys and main point for us is always establishment of international peace.”
He brought the importance of participation of the UN and OSCE Minsk Group in the process to attention: “It is essential to show that it is a very complicated issue and can not be resolved between two sides. It is important to remind all that peace should be achieved by legal means.
It is terrible to see destruction of a city, which was a huge city once, in this way. We saw much destruction here, for example, degradation of the mosque... All of these is very heartbreaking. The city has not been a part of Nagorno-Karabakh, but annexed by Armenian forces. All of these are heavy. As you know, these issues require a legal approach. Azerbaijan borders should be respected.”
