Twitter Inc. stockholders blocked on Wednesday at an annual meeting the re-election of Egon Durban, one of Elon Musk's allies, to the company's board of directors, APA reports citing Tele Trader.

Durban joined the board in 2020 after his company decided to invest $1 billion in Twiter. The co-CEO of a private equity company called Silver Lake collaborated with Musk on his abandoned try to make Tesla private.

Earlier this month, Twitter announced it is still committed to the $44 billion deal with Musk, in case the deal is approved by its stockholders. However, investors are yet to vote on the matter as Musk has since said the deal was "temporarily on hold."
