Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte suffered minor injuries when he lost his balance and fell while riding a motorcycle on the territory of the presidential residence in the capital, according to Rappler media outlet, APA reports citing Sputnik.

The accident happened on the territory of the Malacanang presidential palace compound. Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo said that 74-year-old Duterte suddenly lost control of the motorcycle and crashed.

"The president was reaching for his shoe when he fell off his motorcycle that resulted in a minor injury, particularly light bruises and slight scratches, to his elbow and knee," Panelo said in a statement.
