Türkiye’s goal in Syria and Northern Iraq is to end terrorism, says Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, APA’s Istanbul correspondent reports.
He noted that in case of neighbor countries not being able to do it by themselves, Türkiye is compelled to carry out anti-terrorism operations to ensure safety of its borders.
“Our goal is only to counter terrorism, doesn’t matter if it’s PKK or YPG. We don’t have any problems with people in there, Turks and Kurds are brothers,” said Hulusi Akar.
He added that Turkish Armed Forces pay special attention to civilians and historical monuments during the counterterrorism opeartions.
