Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Monday that Iran is reviewing the new proposal by the EU coordinator for the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal, APA reports citing the official IRNA news agency.

"We have announced our readiness so that at the appointed time, the delegations from Iran and the P4+1, with indirect involvement of the United States, can follow discussions in Vienna about the details for any agreement," the Iranian top diplomat said, referring to negotiations on reviving the nuclear pact, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The Iranian Foreign Ministry is concerned about the rights of the Iranian nation, Amir-Abdollahian said, adding Iran's red lines must be fully taken into account in the upcoming agreement.

"I would like to emphasize that we are serious about reaching a strong, good and stable agreement, and if the American side is realistic and has the necessary flexibility in the possible negotiations, reaching an agreement will not be far from the reach," he noted.

The EU foreign policy chief and coordinator of the JCPOA Joint Commission Josep Borrell recently offered a proposal to the parties of the negotiation in an effort to break an impasse in Vienna nuclear talks.

Iran signed the JCPOA with world powers in July 2015, agreeing to curb its nuclear program in return for the removal of sanctions on the country. However, former U.S. President Donald Trump pulled Washington out of the agreement in May 2018 and reimposed unilateral sanctions on Tehran, prompting the latter to drop some of its commitments under the pact.

The talks on reviving the JCPOA began in April 2021 in the Austrian capital but were suspended in March this year because of political divisions between Tehran and Washington.

After a three-month pause, the talks resumed in late June in Qatar's capital Doha but failed to settle differences.
