SOCAR to drill new production well in “Umid” field

SOCAR is planning to commence drilling of new well in the Umid field, located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, in February next year, Ibrahim Ahmadov, deputy head of the Public Relations and Event Management Department of the Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR told APA-Economics.

According to him, well drilling will be launched from existing “Umid - 1” platform. It is planned to achieve the production of 1,5 mln. cubic meters of gas and more 200 tonnes of condensate daily from this well.

“The drilling works have been carried out in the field by “SOCAR AQŞ” to date, but new well will be drilled by the operator of field Umid-Babek Operating Company (UBOC),” I. Ahmadov stated.

Note that currently, three wells operate in “Umid” field.
