In January-June, Azerbaijan was visited by 1,410.7 thousand foreigners and stateless persons, which is 6.5% more compared to the same period of 2018, APA-Economics reports citing the State Statistics Committee.

According to the Committee, during the reporting period, 29.4% of those who visited Azerbaijan were citizens of Russia, 24.3% - Georgia, 10.5% - Turkey, 7.5% - Iran, 2.6% - United Arab Emirates, 2.4% - Saudi Arabia, 1.9% - Ukraine and India, 1.5% - Turkmenistan, 1.4% - Great Britain, Kazakhstan and Iraq, 1.3% - Pakistan, 12.4 % - citizens of other countries, 0.1% - stateless persons. 68% of arrivals were men, 32% - women.

The largest increase in the number of arrivals in Azerbaijan in January-June was recorded from Egypt (83.1%), Turkmenistan (81%), India (80.3%), China (77.1%), Saudi Arabia (76.7%) , Hungary (52.4%), Great Britain (35.7%), Canada (30.8%), South Korea (29.5%), Germany (27.2%), Japan (24.6%), Pakistan (24.4%), Georgia (22.8%) and Poland (20.2%).

During the reporting period, the number of visitors from the European Union member countries increased by 24.3%, reaching 66.5 thousand people, the number of arrivals from the CIS countries increased by 5% and amounted to 502.5 thousand people.

59% of foreigners and stateless persons who arrived in Azerbaijan, used rail and road transport, 40.2% by air, and 0.8% by water.
