The decision on the status of Hagia Sophia is Turkey's internal affair, said Press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
"We can not comment. It is an internal affair of the Republic of Turkey. You know, Patriarch has made a statement in this regard, expressing opinion of the Russian Orthodox Church. Russian Deputy FM Sergey Vershinin has also made a statement in this regard. I can only say that, of course, we hope that Hagia Sophia will be taken into consideration as a cultural heritage subject status" noted D. Peskov.
