Head of CIS Observation Mission: “Azerbaijani CEC has done great work for holding the elections openly, freely, and democratically”

“Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) has done great work for holding elections openly, freely, and democratically”, head of CIS Observation Mission Viktor Guminsky told APA.

He stated CIS Observation Mission consists of 250 observers from 8 countries. There is not a representative from Ukraine and Armenia within the mission.

“Our mission also includes the delegations of CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and Executive Committee. We started working from January 19, our delegations have been in more than 20 regions of the country so far. I have been in Guba and Shamakhi. It seems obvious that CEC and lower election commissions have worked properly for holding elections organized, open, free and democratic. The commissions know their work, everything is implemented based on law,” he noted.

Viktor Guminsky emphasized that these parliamentary elections attract attention with a large number of candidates stood for deputy.

According to him, confidence in the legislative body in the country increases, citizens are not indifferent to the fate of Azerbaijan: “The work of CEC and constituency election commissions is based on national legislation. We are sure of it while visiting regions. We attended the opening of the stations today. Great work has been conducted.”
