"Yesterday I met with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. In the meeting, we discussed mutual economic and political relations which are at a high level," the President of the Republic of Latvia Egils Levits told journalists at the X Global Baku Forum, APA reports.
He noted that the situation in Ukraine and EU-Azerbaijani relations was also discussed in the meeting.
"Azerbaijan is an important and reliable partner of the EU. In particular, I must notice the role of Azerbaijan in the energy supply. We will continue to take steps to develop our relations between Latvia and Azerbaijan. We have suspended gas imports from Russia, and the EU is looking for new suppliers to ensure our energy security. Relations between the EU and Azerbaijan in this direction are at a high level," said the Latvian President.
