The popular Italian singer Al Bano Carrisi has tested positive for covid, as he has revealed on social networks, where he described the coronavirus as “the most important, most sordid enemy, which represents a little to the enemy of the Third World War", APA reports citing EFE.
Al Bano, 78 years old and internationally known for the songs he performed with his ex-wife Romina Power, such as “Felicità” or “Ci sarà”, will not be able to participate in Channel 5’s New Year’s Eve gala in Bari (south), where he was going to be one of the stars, he explained this Wednesday on Instagram.
“Well yes, the damn covid virus has affected me so much that I cannot do what I was planning to do: the last night of the year in Bari with many friends,” revealed the singer.
Al Bano began in 1965 a career full of successes that made him one of the most popular singers in the country, especially during his time as a musical duo with Romina,
In recent years he has suffered from some health problems and in 2016 he underwent heart surgery after suffering two heart attacks when he was testing for the Christmas concert at the Conciliazione Auditorium in Rome, near St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican.
“I’m here, I have to fight against this pulse with this damned one who is invisible but hits, he is the greatest enemy, the most sordid that represents a little the enemy of the Third World War,” he added.
But he also joked about the death of the virus: “It will end, because everything happens: I have already prepared the funeral for him, I have bought the coffin, it is called coronavirus, I have put the date of birth, I await the blessed date of his death.”
“Let’s put a little irony, a little force, let’s not lament,” he stressed, before warning the anti-vaccines: “Stay tuned, it affects everyone, even non-vax. That is the great and bitter truth. Happy New Year New to all, Happy New Year to all, in the end we will win, without a doubt. ”
