Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said, “There is false information, and there is disinformation,” said former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s remarks about Turkey in his book, which drew criticism, APA reports.

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu responded to former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s allegations against Turkey in his controversial book.

“Pompeo, I think he wrote this book while running for the presidency or to start the campaign for his candidacy. I think so. For once, there is false information about these allegations. I’m speaking diplomatically. You can call it a lie. There is an exaggeration and a double standard. Also, until today their support of terrorism is a serious crime in the USA, and there is disinformation to avoid being subject to the judicial process.

It is exemplary that he said that the Turkish army did not have the capacity to defeat DAESH. The only NATO army fighting hand-to-hand against DAESH is the Turkish army. While we were eliminating DAESH terrorists in Syria and clearing the north of Syria, the USA, together with the YPG/PKK during the Pompeo era, sent DAESH members to Afghanistan by getting on buses and planes. They are responsible for the terrorist attacks in Afghanistan today. Everyone saw the capacity of the Turkish army. Everyone has seen the power of the Turkish army, which is the second-largest force in NATO.

On the other hand, I was with Pompeo at the meeting in Istanbul in 2019. We found their document non-negotiable, then negotiated with the new document. They did not fulfill the obligations of this joint statement, they showed that they were not honest. A tete-a-tete meeting was held between our President and Pence. We saw that Pompeo was bored during this time. As per the protocol, the leaders said that it would not be right to go inside.”
