Tax exemption period extended due to Europa League final match, European Championship 2020

The validity period of the Laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 1559-VQD dated April 9, 2019 “On Amendments to the Tax Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan” and No. 1560-VQD dated April 9, 2019 “On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan On Customs Tariffs” is extended for a year, APA reports.

The Executive Committee of the European Union of Football Associations (UEFA) has decided to hold the final game of the UEFA Europa League in 2019 at the Baku Olympic Stadium.

Azerbaijan also supposed to host the games of the European Football Championship 2020, but due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, major sports events were postponed.

Therefore, the EURO 2020 football games are planned to be held in 2021 in Baku. In this regard, it is envisaged to extend by one year (until August 1, 2021) the validity period of the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 1559-VQD dated April 9, 2019 "On Amendments to the Tax Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan" and No. 1560-VQD dated April 9, 2019 " On amendments to the Law of the Azerbaijan Republic "On customs tariffs". In accordance with these laws, in connection with the holding of the final game of the UEFA Europa League in 2019 and the games of the European Football Championship in 2020, exemption from many types of taxes is provided - income tax, income tax, VAT, excise taxes on excise also from customs duties.
