Today, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov had a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif, Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan told APA.
Mr Mammadyarov informed his Iranian counterpart about the military provocation committed by the Armenian armed forces on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border, the prevention of attacks, the ongoing tension in the region and the current situation.
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stressed that the Armenian aggression is the main source of danger in the region and stressed the need to withdraw the occupying Armenian forces from Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding regions of Azerbaijan.
Mohammad Javad Zarif reiterated Iran's known position on supporting the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, noting that the protection of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan is a regional strategy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He noted that Iran is always ready to support the settlement of the conflict.
