"In light of the problems in the world today, it is important to hold such an event," said President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste José Ramos-Horta at the 10th Global Baku Forum themed “The World of Today: Challenges and Hopes”, APA reports.
José Ramos-Horta stressed that there are no conflicts in Timor-Leste, and relations with neighbors are good: "Nevertheless, we are still an underdeveloped country. In 2020-2022, the situation of millions of people around the world worsened. Timor-Leste has gotten out of the situation regarding the pandemic better”.
José Ramos-Horta highlighted that Europe should take a united stand and contribute to bridging the gap between the United States and Russia: “Countries like Brazil, Türkiye, and China should act together and act as mediators in the elimination of conflicts in the world. We have a long way to go. The threat of war is still looming over us. We should work for peacebuilding on the Korean Peninsula and the South China Sea".
