Employees of the State Border Service (SBS) continue to take border protection and operational search measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border, fighting against illegal migration, APA reports citing SBS.

10 citizens of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka were detained as suspects on the border outpost located near the village of Buyuk-Bahmanli, Fuzuli district, as a result of search and operation measures carried out on August 12 at around 10:00 p.m. During the preliminary investigation, the mentioned foreigners officially arrived in the country as tourists on July 25 and 29, were determined to illegally cross the state border from the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Islamic Republic of Iran, and then to the Republic of Turkiye and migrated to one of the European countries under the guidance of a person named Alirza, an Iranian citizen.

Operational-investigative measures are underway to detect and neutralize the channel of illegal migration on the fact.
