The Azerbaijani government, European Union (EU), and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) join forces on mine clearance to support the safe return of internally displaced persons, APA reports.

EU, Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), and UNDP have signed a new project to support the safe return of internally displaced persons in Azerbaijan in Shusha.

Notably, the EU which provided a financial contribution of €4,25 mln for the project is the international organization that provides the biggest support for demining operations in Azerbaijan.

In addition to benefiting from the project, IDPs will also actively participate in the project. The new demining teams will work closely with local communities and the participation of non-governmental organizations in demining activities will be encouraged.
