Taking into consideration the increasing demand of passengers due to easing of the special quarantine regime, the number and the running interval of the buses setting out on daily run are kept under control, Baku Transport Agency told APA.

In the directions experiencing respectively more passenger rush in the morning and the evening hours, the additional number of buses are involved in passenger transportations along regular and express route lines. Every day, a total of 1,820 units of buses are released to route lines across Baku City of which about 830 units are running in the direction of the suburban villages and settlements. About 20 units of 18 meters’ long buses have also been involved in passenger transportations for the first time.

Currently, the total number of the buses set out on daily run along route lines exceeds by 15% the number of buses operated in summer season when the activity of education institutions is suspended. Thus, in the last summer season, on the backdrop of decline in total demand of passengers, about 1,600 units of buses were set out on daily run.

The awareness raising measures are also being implemented continuously in order to promote rules related to observation of social distancing, use of masks and prophylaxis of COVID-19 infection, etc. The partitions eliminating the physical contact between passengers and driver have been installed in 1,400 buses in a short time.
