“Today, the increase in resistance against the coronavirus is due to the formation of herd immunity. It happens in two ways. Either the person gets infected and recovers, or is vaccinated,” Specialist-expert of the Ministry of Health, infectious disease specialist Tayyar Eyvazov said, APA reports.

According to him, about 50 percent of the population has been vaccinated: “The number of infected ones is a bit higher than 800.000. This shows that the main factor affecting the formation of herd immunity is vaccines. New mutated strains of the coronavirus may emerge. The evolution of the virus happens. It is not known how it will continue. Therefore, international organizations have not declared the end of the pandemic yet. Probably, after some time, these issues will be considered and the decisions will be adopted regarding the end of the pandemic.”
