Iran enriches uranium 63% for first time in its history

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani stated on Monday that for the first time in the country's history it has enriched uranium up to 63%, as talks in Vienna stalled, APA reports citing Teletrader.

Rouhani commented on Iran's nuclear prospects, saying that they are looking for nuclear technologies for their domestic industry and to increase their own capabilities with new technologies.

Additionally, he said that the enrichment is "for the needs of our country in the medical and energy industries," asserting that it is completely peaceful and that Iran doesn't have intentions to create nuclear weapons.
