Kazakhstan produced 19.8 thousand tons of uranium in 2020, 41 percent of the world's uranium production in 2020, according to the World Nuclear Association data, APA reports citing AKI Pres.

Australia produced 6,200 tons of uranium ranking the second. Third place went to Namibia (5.41 thousand tons), followed by Canada (3.88 thousand tons).

Uzbekistan produced 3.5 thousand tons.

According to WNA, production in Kazakhstan has exceeded 21 thousand tons since 2012 and reached the mark of 24.6 thousand tons in 2016. O

Kazakhstan's uranium reserves are estimated at 907 thousand tons (15 percent of global reserves). Raw materials are mainly exported to China, Russia and Canada.

In 2020 the demand for uranium in the world market has dropped due to the coronavirus pandemic, and Kazakhstan has announced the initiative to reduce uranium production in the next two years.
