Final matches of boxing competitions of 2nd European Games are underway in Minsk, Belarus, APA reports.
Member of Azerbaijani national team Alfonso Dominguez has fought the decisive match in 81 kg weight category.
It was his 5th match in the tournament in “Urechye Arena” of Minsk. Previously, he defeated Ukrainian Stefan Hrekul with 3:0, Belarusian Mikhail Dauhalyavets with 5:0, Belgian Ziad El Mohor with 5:0, and Italian Simone Fiori with 4:1 score in semi-final. He has met British Benjamin Whittaker in the final game and secured a win with 3:2 score. Thus, our athlete has won the title of champion of the tournament, which also holds the status of the European championship.
It was second medal of Azerbaijani boxing team in European Games. Before Dominguez Lorenzo Sotomayor clinches bronze in 69 kg weight category by losing in semi-final match.
