On March 10, Azerbaijani borders guards in Astara district prevented two persons from violating the state border with Iran.

Thanks to the darkness and the area being densely forested, the two persons managed to flee the area, leaving behind 535g marijuana which they had planned to smuggle to Azerbaijan, the State Border Service told APA.

On the same day, a border guard ship of the Coastal Guard of the State Border Service discovered a hand-made buoy and a package of 2,200g heroin tied to it.

The facts are under investigation.
