“Views on food safety were voiced here. It is not a new issue. The main grain source that we import, is Russia. The base price of 1 ton of imported wheat rose from $ 225-240 to $ 340. At the same time, export duties of the Russian government were raised from USD 28 to USD 34. In order to close this gap in 2021, importers have been given subsidies of up to AZN 75 million,” said Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov during the discussion of the report of the Cabinet of Ministers for 2021, APA reports.

The Prime Minister noted that the price of a 50 kg bag of flour rose from 26 to 36 manat, but despite the subsidies, it was not the last: “These are figures until the war. Recent ongoing processes and bans applied in Russia which is a major exporter, are also relevant. We have enough grain reserves.”
