German Chancellor Olaf Scholz of delaying the delivery of 11 IRIS-T SLM air defense systems to Ukraine, APA reports citing Welt am Sonntag.
According to the publication, Kyiv wants to purchase 11 IRIS-T SLM air defense systems. These complexes are designed to destroy aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, cruise and ballistic missiles. It is specified that Ukraine wants to purchase air defense systems directly from the defense manufacturing company Diehl Defense.
At the same time, the newspaper notes that the request from Kyiv was filed in early July. The Ministry of Economy of Germany gave a positive opinion, but the export permit must be issued by the Office of the Federal Chancellor. Over the past three weeks, no decision has been made there, writes Welt am Sonntag.
