Azerbaijan is resolutely against changing the format of talks on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, First Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov said, ONA reports.

“We don’t recognize the separatist regime. Of course, the Armenian authorities’ insincere behavior causes obstacles to conducting the peace talks in the right direction,” he said.

Z. Asgarov said that Armenia, in order to evade the negotiations and disrupt them, always brings various pretexts for changing the format and participation of the separatist regime in the talks.

“This format was approved in 1992 by the OSCE Minsk Group and the talks should continue in this direction. Our stance is known to all – the international community, the OSCE Minsk Group. Azerbaijan is resolutely against changing the format, because the conflict is between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Armenia has occupied our lands. However, Armenia, using all means, is trying to hamper the talks in this format,” Z. Asgarov added.

“Therefore, the Minsk Group also believes that the negotiations format should remain unchanged. If the talks go on in this direction, we will provide our support to this. However, Armenia is creating an imitation and is trying to disrupt the talks. We are ready to liberate our lands from the occupation through any means, using the international law, our army as well as the international support. In every case, we would like that the conflict is solved through negotiations. If there is another option, we are ready for that,” he said.
